Costa Mesa : U.S., Foreign Jazz Bands to Perform at 10 Sites

More than 20 jazz bands from the United States, Canada and Europe will perform at 10 different indoor and outdoor sites during the three-day South Coast Metro Jazz Centennial Festival July 28-30.

The event, which is a sanctioned event of the yearlong celebration honoring the county’s 100th birthday, will take place around South Coast Plaza at such sites as the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel, the Holiday Inn Bristol Plaza Hotel, the Red Lion Inn and the Beverly Heritage Hotel.

International jazz bands include Veterinary Street and Allotria of Munich, West Germany; Fat Sam’s of Edinburgh, Scotland; Jazz Band Ball Orchestra of Krakow, Poland, and Climax of Toronto, Canada.

American bands from as far away as Florida and New Orleans include Garden Avenue Seven, Creole Rice, Abalone Stompers, Nightblooming Jazzmen, Hot Frogs Jumping Jazz Band and the host band, Misbehavin’ Jazz Band from Irvine.
