McMullen Picked by CBA Team

Former San Diego State center Mitch McMullen, ignored in last month’s National Basketball Assn. draft, was chosen by the expansion Santa Barbara Islanders in the fifth round of the Continental Basketball Assn. draft Friday.

McMullen has spent the past week participating in the Denver Nuggets rookie camp after attending a similar camp in Seattle last week.

The National City Parks & Recreation Department will sponsor two co-ed instructional camps from 4 to 7 p.m. July 24-28 and July 31-Aug. 4. at Sweetwater High School. The first session is for grades 5 through 9; the second advanced session is for grades 9 through 12. Sweetwater Coach Dave Ybarra will conduct the camps. Cost is $30. For information, call 475-5472.
