THE SIDELINES : Mack Pleads Innocent in Drug Case
Browns fullback Kevin Mack pleaded innocent today to drug-trafficking charges in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and was allowed to remain free on $2,500 bond.
Mack, 26, who was arrested June 28, stood with his hands folded in front of him before Judge William E. Aurelius. He was indicted July 10 on one felony count each of cocaine possession, cocaine trafficking, possession of criminal tools, and using a motor vehicle for drug abuse.
On the advice of defense attorney Gerald Gold, Mack did not comment after the brief proceedings. But Gold said Mack is doing well in a drug rehabilitation program at the Cleveland Clinic.
Gold, citing a crowded court docket, predicted that Mack’s trial will not begin until after the upcoming NFL season.
