THE SIDELINES : Miss. Gridder Dies of Crash Injuries
Jackson State fullback Earl Eatman died Thursday night of injuries he received in a two-vehicle accident south of Hattiesburg.
A spokesman at Forrest General Hospital said today that Eatman, 21, who suffered chest and internal injuries, died in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
“I felt Earl was destined for fame, but it just wasn’t meant to be,” head football Coach W. C. Gordon said today. “We are shocked and devastated with the loss of this outstanding student athlete. And we all grieve for his parents, who were so supportive of him.”
