EL Toro : El Toro Jets to Practice Carrier Landings at Base

Share

Fighter attack aircraft will be practicing simulated aircraft carrier landings near the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro in the evening hours next week, which may result in increased noise in surrounding neighborhoods, a spokeswoman at the station said.

“Basically, it’s something that happens all the time,” said a Marine Corps spokeswoman. She said the FA-18 Hornet jets based at El Toro hold the practice sessions several times a year. They will be landing as if the runway at the air base were the deck of an aircraft carrier.

The exercises are scheduled from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the spokeswoman.
