The secretary of the Navy denied that Greenpeace protesters forced the Navy to scrap a Trident 2 missile launch off Cape Canaveral, Fla. Instead, foreign flag ships prompted officials to call off Friday’s scheduled test, Navy Secretary H. Lawrence Garrett said in a prepared statement. The Navy canceled the Trident 2 test several hours after four Greenpeace vessels penetrated the safety zone and chased a submarine involved in the test about 50 miles off the cape. Some Greenpeace vessels fly foreign flags, and two involved in Friday’s game of cat and mouse in international Atlantic waters were reported to be of Dutch and Swedish registry.
