Jetliner Forced Into Emergency Landing
From Associated Press
GREENSBORO, N.C. —
A Piedmont Airlines jet carrying 107 people made an emergency landing with its left wing and engine scraping the runway today after its pilots were unable to lower the left landing gear, officials said.
No serious injuries were reported after passengers evacuated the Boeing 737 by emergency slides. The plane, bound from Washington to Charlotte, was diverted after a warning light indicated the problem, officials said.
