San Diego
A 10-year-old boy was seriously injured Wednesday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Mesa College Drive, police said.
Ryan Wery of San Diego was in serious condition with severe head injuries and a fractured leg at Children’s Hospital, hospital spokeswoman Sharon Ross said.
The victim was walking south with his two brothers and a friend in the 7600 block of the street about 1:45 p.m. when the accident occurred, San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
A car heading west on Mesa College Drive struck the boy as he crossed the road, Robinson said.
Witnesses described the car as possibly an orange, older model Chevrolet Nova bearing a license plate with these figures: 252RHF. The car would have front-end and windshield damage, Robinson said.
Anyone with information about the car is asked to call Detective Chuck Vermillion at 594-7807.
