New Arts Service Organization to Be Discussed
- Share via
The creation of a new countywide arts service organization to replace the defunct Orange County Arts Alliance will be discussed at a meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the South Coast Repertory’s Second Stage, 655 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.
All artists and arts organization officials may attend the session, which will address such questions as whether the proposed Orange County Arts Council should be privately or publicly funded. The former alliance, designed to support and promote development of local arts groups, dissolved in 1988 after funding and management woes.
Tuesday’s meeting is the first in a planned series of open sessions on the issue, said Martin Weil, former managing director of Opera Pacific, who has been active in an effort to establish a new arts service agency.
