Fresno St. Named Big West Favorite in Football Poll
Fresno State, which won the Big West Conference football title last season by going undefeated against conference teams, was chosen unanimously to repeat as champion in a poll of conference coaches Thursday.
Cal State Fullerton, which finished 5-6 overall last season and tied for second in the Big West with a 5-2 record, was picked to finish fourth.
Fresno State went 10-2 overall last season, losing to Colorado and Oregon State, and defeated Western Michigan to win the California Bowl.
San Jose State, which went undefeated in the conference to win the title in 1986 and 1987 but fell to 4-3 in conference and 4-8 overall last year, was picked to finish second.
