A Costa Mesa police officer fired his gun into the door of a car and later arrested the driver and another man in a confrontation on Harbor Boulevard, police said Friday. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Paul Stephen Clark, 31, of Valley Center in San Diego County and Arthur Clarke Ringer, 27, whose home address was not immediately known, were arrested in the 2200 block of Harbor Boulevard about 9:15 p.m. Thursday after their car allegedly backed up into a police car, pushing it toward a wall, said Costa Mesa Police Lt. Sam Corbeiro.

An officer who was not in the patrol car at the time warned the occupants to stop before he fired one shot into the door, Corbeiro said. The men then surrendered to police, he said.
