Women’s Golf Coverage Is Not Quite Up to Par

Share

Recently a prestigious women’s golf event was held, but I found only a very short account of the women’s U.S. Open on Page 4 of the sports section.

It is laughable to imagine the men’s Open being covered in this minimal way.

Since numbers don’t lie, with ruler in hand, I measured the reports on the Tour de France. The men’s event (starting on Page 1, of course) was covered by 86 1/2 inches of reporting, including the pictures.

Imagine my surprise to learn there was also a women’s Tour de France. I discovered this on Page 8 with nine inches devoted to the story.

I am an avid fan of both women’s and men’s sports. It would be so nice to read more about Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, etc., along with your well done accounts of Nicklaus, Norman, Watson, etc.
