NAMES IN THE NEWS : U2 Guitarist Faces Drug Charges

Adam Clayton, bass guitarist with the superstar Irish rock band U2, appeared in court today accused of two drug offenses.

The 29-year-old musician was arrested near his Dublin home Sunday night and charged with possessing marijuana and intending to supply the drug to another person. Clayton, who said nothing in court, was granted bail until the next hearing on Sept. 1.

U2 has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. Its album “The Joshua Tree” won a Grammy award in the United States last year.
