A government prosecutor, saying an informant’s life may otherwise be in danger, pleaded with a federal magistrate in Salt Lake City to keep three Utah football players and one former team member jailed on drug charges.
During a detention hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Nelson told Magistrate Ronald N. Boyce she had reason to believe there could be “tampering and intimidation and even threats to kill” the informant in the case.
Wide receiver Cedric Riles, 21, of Riverside, Calif.; linebacker Errol Martin, 21, of Oakville, Canada; offensive lineman Sean Henderson, 20, Clovis, Calif., and former tight end Clyde French, 24, Carson, Calif., were arrested last Thursday on cocaine distribution and conspiracy charges.
