A baby-sitter who allegedly shook a baby girl so hard that the infant suffered a skull fracture and brain damage, causing blindness and the possibility she will never walk or talk, was sentenced Tuesday to nine months in a work-furlough program.
Michelle Goodrow, 22, who in May pleaded guilty to felony child abuse, was also placed on six years’ probation and fined $250.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Andrew Wagner ordered that Goodrow pay restitution for the medical bills caused by the injury. An exact amount will be determined later.
Goodrow, a former La Mesa resident now living in Newport Beach, will report to the work-furlough program Aug. 26. She will be free to go to work but will be in custody at nights and weekends for nine months.
The victim, Briana Foss, who is now 16 months old, is in the care of a foster family.
