* The Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Landmark Theatre Corp. at their screening for “The Music Teacher” on July 16 at the Westside Pavilion netted $1,100 benefitting the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Barbara Schneider and Ruth Opolion were co-chairs.

* The private tea on July 17, sponsored by Trumps Restaurant to benefit AIDS Home Care program of AIDS Project Los Angeles, netted $4,000. Marilynn Lovell and Peter Matz performed an afternoon of songs.

* Concern II at its July 29 welcome party greeted 500 new members and raised $18,000. The sum raised by the organization for cancer research since its inception in 1981 totals $1.4 million. Along with the chapters in Los Angeles and Orange County, a new one has been established in Cleveland, Ohio.

* The ninth annual Beverly Hills Antique Car and Automotive Show sponsored by Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories, held on July 30 at El Rodeo School, raised $50,000 which will benefit the Blind Children’s Center of Los Angeles, the CPR Committee of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Education Foundation.

* The Variety Children’s Charities, through contributions and corporate sponsors, hosted the opening night celebration of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, making it a first time at the circus for 500 handicapped and underprivileged children. Honoree was Gunther Gebel-Williams and his Farewell Tour at a private party before the show. Net proceeds from the event were approximately $13,000, which will be disbursed among programs supported by Variety in Southern California.

* The National Hispanic Arts Education and Media Institute, which held two benefit concerts on Aug. 2 at the Biltmore Bowl, netted $84,000. All proceeds will go toward funding a series of youth leadership conferences for the institute in cooperation with the Educational Issues Coordinating Committee of the National Hispanic Arts Media and Entertainment Foundation. Moctesuma Esparza was executive producer of the event.

* The Friends of the Los Angeles Free Clinic’s “Fantastica ‘89,” headed by entertainers David Crosby and Graham Nash and held Aug. 5 at the Pacific Design Center, netted an estimated $100,000. Proceeds will be used for interior furnishings for the Free Clinic’s new building which is anticipated to open around Oct. 1. Adele Nadel and Joan Cohen were the co-chairs and president Mimi West was host.
