Crenshaw : Police Headquarters Opens
The Los Angeles Police Department has opened its new Southwest Division headquarters, a 22,000-square-foot facility in the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza shopping mall at Marlton Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
The $1.5-million headquarters, formally dedicated last week by Mayor Tom Bradley, Police Chief Daryl Gates and other officials, will serve as home for the department’s South Bureau Homicide, Training and Traffic divisions.
Under an agreement with the developer of the shopping mall, Alexander Haagan Co., the police are leasing the mall space for $1 a year.
