A man the FBI suspects of robbing seven banks in San Marcos, Carlsbad and the Clairemont area has robbed an eighth, authorities said.
This time, the robber hit a Union Bank branch in the 4000 block of Genesee Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, making off with $1,525.
The robber, described as 6 feet tall and weighing 140 pounds, entered the bank at 2 p.m. carrying a green nylon Army bag. He showed a teller a note that read, “I have a gun. Give me all your money, not $1 bills,” San Diego police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
During Wednesday’s heist the bandit was wearing a yellow short-sleeve shirt, dark glasses and dark dress slacks.
The robber fits the description of the suspect in a series of bank robberies that began in early June, FBI spokesman Ron Orrantia said, adding that during some of the robberies, the suspect displayed what appeared to be a semiautomatic weapon.
