WORLD : Bomb Injures Israeli Tax Collectors
Four Israeli tax collectors were wounded today when a Molotov cocktail smashed through a car windshield and burst into flames in the town of Ramallah on the occupied West Bank.
Within hours of the attack, the military clamped curfews on the area and a nearby Palestinian refugee camp and detained dozens of Arabs for questioning. Soldiers also ordered Palestine Street, where the attack occurred, shops along the road and adjacent alleys closed indefinitely.
It was not clear whether the attack was directed at the Israeli-licensed car or the tax collectors.
Stones, empty bottles and gasoline bombs against Israeli vehicles and soldiers are the primary weapons Palestinians use in their fight against against Israel’s 22-year occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
