Area Schools : Incumbents Win by Default

Incumbents in the Bonita and Glendora school districts and in the Pasadena and Mt. San Antonio college districts have been reelected by default, automatically winning new terms because no candidates filed to run against them.

The absence of challengers means that the scheduled Nov. 7 elections in the Bonita and Glendora school districts, the Mt. San Antonio College District and portions of the Pasadena Area Community College District will be canceled.

Three Pasadena City College trustees, Richard H. Green, Walter T. Shatford II, and Joseph E. Sargis, filed for candidacy and were unopposed. But a fourth trustee, Warren L. Weber of San Marino, will have to run for reelection because Robert R. Almanza, a community college administrator, filed against him before last week’s deadline. The election will be held Nov. 7 in Trustee Area 5, which includes South Pasadena, San Marino and a part of Pasadena that lies south of California Boulevard.

Reelected automatically in the other districts were: Trustees Kenneth L. Hunt of Hacienda Heights and Gary V. Miller of West Covina in the Mt. San Antonio College District; board members Keith Canfield and Robert M. Green in the Bonita Unified School District, and board members Douglas D. Graham, Everett W. Hughes Jr. and Mary R. Lundstrom in the Glendora Unified School District.
