* The Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley at its 10th annual dinner June 29 at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel netted $122,742. Harvey Rosen of the law firm of Rosen, Wachtell & Gilbert received the club’s Goodfellow Award. Proceeds will be used to continue to support the club’s character development programs for youth.

* The Western Law Center for the Handicapped held its third annual Gala Honoring Summer Associates on July 14 at the Executive Penthouse, Bank of America Tower and netted $11,000. Proceeds will be used for pro bono legal work on behalf of the handicapped. Sharon Lybeck Hartman and Rob Hennessey were co-chairs.

* The Assistance League of Southern California Day Nursery Auxiliary and Artisan Auxiliary raised $63,000 at their sixth annual Golden Mallet Invitational Polo Tournament and Garden Party at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. Geannie Sheller and her mother, Gloria Holden, were co-chairs.

* The third annual Moonlight Roundup benefit for Free Arts For Abused Children on July 29 at the Calamigos Ranch, and featuring Kim Carnes, netted $50,000. Proceeds will be used to continue to bring art to the lives of neglected or abandoned children in more than 40 residential treatment centers in the area.

* The Bolshoi Ballet Academy on Aug. 3 gave the first benefit performance of a worldwide campaign for the Children of Crisis Foundation. The benefit at the Pantages Theatre and after-party underwritten by PepsiCo, Inc. raised $30,000 for Armenian children who were orphaned or disabled by the December earthquake. Classical artists International and the Nederlander Organization donated 500 tickets at a cost of $250 each and are sponsoring the Bolshoi Ballet’s six-week U.S. tour. Donald M. Kendall was honorary chair.

* The Starlight Foundation of Southern California’s Aug. 5 event at Bernice and Edmund Gann’s Cedar Hills Farm in Rancho Santa Fe netted the Foundation $62,000. Rita Coolidge performed before a crowd of 425. Judy and Chris McCarron were hosts.

*The Eastlake Inn in conjunction with the Los Angeles Library Assn. presented its first two Sunday afternoon concerts Aug. 6 and 13 at the Inn and raised $250 toward the replacement of music books lost in the fires of the downtown Los Angeles Public Library.

* The Jack-in-the-Box Invitational Track Meet on Aug. 6 at UCLA’s Drake Stadium to benefit Make-a-Wish Foundation netted an estimated $3,200. A few of the stars featured were Mary Decker Slany, Steve Scott and Greg Foster. This is the first time the 11-year-old meet has adopted a charity to benefit from this yearly event. Rita Tateel was celebrity coordinator.

* The first Time 2 Bowl benefit Aug. 12 at the Sports Center Bowl netted $7,250 for the Spare Change Project to help homeless families in Los Angeles. Prizes for bowlers were donated by KRTH radio and food was donated by Jody Maroni Sausages. Scott Mednick and John Ellis were co-chairs.
