HEALTH : Irate Patient, 92, Kills Wrong Doctor
A 92-year-old man, claiming that his doctor had made him blind, fatally shot the wrong physician at a medical center today, then took a seat in the waiting room until police arrived, authorities said.
The man walked into a 62-year-old doctor’s office and blamed the doctor for his loss of sight over the last several years, Stockholm police spokesman Carl Westling said.
“He then pulled out a gun and fired five shots, one of which hit the doctor in the chest and killed him,” the spokesman said.
But Westling said the man who was gunned down was not the man’s usual physician but a private doctor who only occasionally filled in at the medical center and had examined the man only once before, in March this year.
After the shooting, the suspect sat in the waiting room until police arrived and he immediately confessed to killing the physician. He was arrested for murder.
