Police are investigating the death of a 13-year-old boy who was fatally shot while walking to a grocery near his Southeast San Diego home.
Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, Charles Dewan Brunson left his home in the 4900 block of Logan Avenue to buy some candy. He was shot once in the upper body while walking, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The boy, who was found in the 4800 block of Logan Avenue, was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Robinson said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting was gang-related, he said.
