Therapist Toni Grant Departing KFI-AM
Toni Grant, who pioneered radio call-in therapy, will leave KFI-AM (640) next week and will be replaced as advice-giver of the airwaves by psychologist Barbara De Angelis.
Grant, 45, who has had a 15-year career in radio psychology, has been on KFI since April, 1988.
Grant, who wrote a best-selling book last year entitled “Being a Woman: Fulfilling Your Femininity and Finding Love,” plans to write a follow-up to that book, said her husband, John Bell.
De Angelis, 38, who has filled in for Grant while she was on vacaction and previously hosted a psychology show on Cable News Network, said that her 11 a.m.-1 p.m. program will follow Grant’s call-in format but noted that she has a different style of dealing with people. She said with her age and folksy style, she fits in with KFI’s new emphasis on reaching younger listeners.
