The Story Behind a Drive-By Shooting

Share

Thank you for Maria Newman’s sensitive coverage of the drive-by shooting of Juna Pedro Trujillo (“O.C. Murder Steeped in Tragedy, Poverty,” Aug. 15).

Considering the number of killings in Southern California recently, I for one had become callous and often passed over articles detailing these seemingly daily occurrences. However, Newman’s article, placed prominently on Page 1, could not be ignored.

Her graphic account of the effect of Trujillo’s death on his family and friends made me realize that every unnecessary death is an individual tragedy that causes untold suffering for many.

I’d like to extend my sympathy to the Trujillos and my gratitude to Newman for her well-written article.
