Chris Evert, who is ending her reign as one of the best players in women’s tennis, will continue to lead the women’s game off the court.

Evert has been elected president of the Women’s International Tennis Assn. for a record eighth term, the association announced today.

Evert, who said last week that she will leave full-time tennis after the current U.S. Open championships, will fill the post for the seventh time in a row.
