NEW YORK — Two white teen-agers were indicted today on murder charges in the killing of a black youth by a mob of up to 30 whites last week that has set off a racial furor in the city.
The indictments were returned in Brooklyn Criminal Court just an hour before the funeral of Yusef Hawkins, 16. A crowd of about 300 people heckled Gov. Mario M. Cuomo and New York City Mayor Edward I. Koch as they arrived for the service.
Keith Mondello, 18, and Pasquale Raucci, 19, were charged with murder, riot, assault, criminal possession of a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment and civil rights violations. Police are looking for Joseph Fama, 18, who has been identified as the gunman in the killing.
