THE SIDELINES : His Future Is in Movies, Hagler Says
Former world middleweight champion Marvin Hagler said that he will never fight again and that his future is in the movies.
Hagler, 36, who ruled the middleweight division for seven years, said his retirement, after a close defeat by Sugar Ray Leonard in 1987, “was a very difficult decision to take.”
“I still have boxing in my heart but I will never come back into the ring,” said Hagler, who was in Rome today to attend the Italian premiere of his first film, “Indio.”
“I am looking forward to new challenges and opportunities, especially in the movies.”
