Orange : Body Found in Trunk of Car Is Identified

Share

Police in Orange on Tuesday identified the woman whose body was discovered over the weekend in the trunk of her boyfriend’s car as Harriet Anne Fleming, 48, of Anaheim. Police discovered the body in the trunk after the man returned home to find officers called to the scene by suspicious neighbors.

Investigators suspect that Fleming was strangled to death by her boyfriend, Michael Raymond Goodson, 31, an auto parts driver for a car dealership. He is being held at County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Shortly after daybreak Saturday, neighbors at Goodson’s apartment complex in Orange called police to report that they had seen him leave his ground-floor unit carrying a sleeping bag that appeared to have a body inside. The residents reported that Goodson placed the sleeping bag in the trunk of his car and drove off, police said.

Officers arrived and entered the apartment in search of a victim or suspect, but found only traces of blood. Goodson, however, returned to his apartment hours later to find police still combing the complex for clues.

Investigators talked to Goodson for a brief period, then opened the trunk of his car and made their grisly discovery. Goodson was arrested at the scene and later booked on suspicion of murder.
