CS Los Angeles Defeats Irvine in Men’s Soccer

The Cal State Los Angeles men’s soccer team defeated UC Irvine, 2-1, at Cal State Los Angeles Wednesday.
Irvine led, 1-0, two minutes into second half after a 10-yard goal by senior Darren Bedolla. It was the first goal of the season for Bedolla, an All-Big West second team midfielder at last year.
At 62 minutes, Cal State Los Angeles’ Mike Gregorian scored on a penalty kick from 25 yards to tie the score. Nine minutes later, Brent Bish scored the winning goal from six feet out after the ball rebounded several times on a corner kick.
Irvine’s record dropped to 1-1, and Cal State Los Angeles improved to 1-0-1. Irvine goalie Mike Gartlan had six saves.
In women’s soccer:
St. Mary’s 5, Irvine 0--Irvine (0-1-1) lost at Moraga despite 15 saves by goalie Alicia Miller.
