The Chicago Cubs, who have trained in Mesa for 37 of the last 38 springs, will stay here at least another five years. The National League team and the city announced an agreement to keep its spring training home in Arizona with upgraded facilities.

A new contract commits the Cubs to stay in Mesa through the 1994 season. The club will have options for extending the contract for up to another five years.

The major league clubhouse at HoHoKam Park will be remodeled and the front office expanded before next season. The entire minor league complex at Fitch Park will be significantly enlarged and a fourth practice field added in 1991.
