Events in the news this week.
On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors will consider the county’s response to 1988-89 Orange County Grand Jury reports critical of the county’s reliance on outside legal representation and the adequacy of its review of millions of dollars in billings from private lawyers. In their response, county officials agreed that closer scrutiny of those contracts is needed but rejected the grand jury’s recommendation to prohibit the hiring of former county attorneys to handle county cases. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Hall of Administration.
