Local : Pickup Driver Dies in Fiery Crash

A motorist was killed in the fiery crash of a pickup truck at Oban near Edwards Air Force Base this morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred at 2 a.m. where Avenue D ends at Sierra Highway, CHP officials said. The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was not identified.
Investigators said the motorist was driving approximately 70 m.p.h. on Avenue D and went through a stop sign at Sierra Highway. The pickup crossed the highway jumped a set of railroad tracks and turned over and burst into flames.
The victim was found dead at the scene. Los Angeles County firefighters extinguished the blaze in 10 minutes.
