Jennifer Capriati, who at 13 is the youngest player ever in Wightman Cup competition, beat Clare Wood of Britain, 6-0, 6-0, Thursday night at Williamsburg, Va., in the second match of the annual U.S.-British women’s tennis series.

In the opening match, Lori McNeil won five of the last six games in the first set and the last five games of the second set to defeat Jo Durie, 7-5, 6-1.

Wood, ranked 154th in the world and a member of last year’s British Olympic team, had only 17 points in the match.

The Americans have won the last 10 meetings and lead, 50-10, in the Wightman Cup series, an annual team competition between the United States and Britain. The teams play five singles and two doubles matches.

Fourth-seeded Guillermo Perez-Roldan of Argentina defeated countryman Roberto Arguello, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, in the second round of the Geneva Open in Switzerland.

Perez-Roldan, the only remaining seeded player, moves into the quarterfinals, where he will play Juan Aguilera of Spain.

In a doubles match, Thomas Muster of Austria, the world’s 10th-ranked singles player, played his first match since he was injured in an April 1 accident in Key Biscayne, Fla., that resulted in major knee surgery.

A car hit Muster from behind while he was getting his equipment out of the trunk of his car.

“Maybe the footwork is not 100%, but the doctors say the knee will be fine with practice and exercise,” Muster said after he and Wojtek Fibak defeated Heinz Guenthardt of Switzerland and Balazs Taroczy of Hungary, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (10-8).
