Helix 36, Valhalla 14--Ale Campos scored four touchdowns to lead No. 5 Helix at Granite Hills. Campos caught scoring passes of 78, 14 and 21 yards and ran 12 yards for another touchdown. Rob Ippolito was 15 of 23 for 251 yards, and Campos caught eight passes for 175 yards for Helix (2-0). Scott Lapinski rushed 19 times for 138 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown run for Valhalla (1-1).

Chula Vista 27, Serra 6--Chula Vista quarterback Derek Chapman was 9 of 17 for 148 yards to lead No 7 Chula Vista (2-0). Serra (0-2) receiver Rod Alexander had six catches for 165 yards and a touchdown.

Mira Mesa 7, Southwest 3--Marc Ziegler caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from J.J. Rowlett midway through the third quarter in a defensive struggle at Montgomery High School. Rowlett was six of 11 for 116 yards for No. 9 Mira Mesa (2-0), whose defense had seven sacks for a minus 55 yards. Jose Garcia kicked a 35-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter for Southwest (0-2).

San Dieguito 35, Patrick Henry 24--Tenth-ranked San Dieguito led 35-10 in the fourth quarter behind a 95-yard kickoff return and a 28-yard run by Mike Henry. San Dieguito (2-0) also scored on a 30-yard interception return by Troy Barker, who rushed for 106 yards on 16 carries. Luke Lowrey was 15 of 30 for 151 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown pass to Tony Palmeri, for Patrick Henry (1-1).

USDHS 17, Hoover 7--USDHS’s Brian Duplesis had 134 yards on six carries, including a 68-yard touchdown, before leaving the game in the second quarter with a separated shoulder. Andy Penaflor added 113 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. USDHS (1-1) had 300 yards rushing on 45 carries. Hoover (1-1) got its only score on a 79-yard pass from Tony Banks to LeRoy Penaflor.

Crawford 5, Mission Bay 0--J.J. Wadas kicked a 37-yard field goal for visiting Crawford (1-1), and then Mission Bay snapped a ball over the punter’s head and out of the end zone for a safety in the first quarter to complete the scoring. Crawford linebacker Jorge Braithwaite deflected a pass on fourth-and-11 with 1:30 remaining in the game to thwart Mission Bay’s final drive. Peter Irvin led Crawford with 76 yards on 20 carries. Pat Betancourt had 65 yards on nine carries for Mission Bay.

San Marcos 17, Fallbrook 15--Brandon Clanton rushed for 74 yards in five carries and scored on a 44-yard touchdown run to lead host San Marcos. San Marcos’ Eric Morton had two interceptions, the first setting up a touchdown. Randy Calloway blocked a Fallbrook field goal attempt in the fourth quarter. His brother, Brian, had 16 tackles and an interception.

Santana 28, Granite Hills 6--Santana broke a 16-year losing streak to Granite Hills with the victory at home.

Mar Vista 16, Marian 10--Richard Vega scored on runs of three and four yards to lead Mar Vista at Marian. Mar Vista held Marian to two first downs and 59 yards total offense. Zabe Lee rushed 18 times for 118 yards for Mar Vista (2-), which hasn’t allowed a point in two games.

St. Augustine 48, Coronado 0--Hunter Buckner rushed 11 times for 81 yards and three touchdowns and Barrett Pricor rushed seven times for 95 yards and one touchdown to lead St. Augustine at Coronado.

San Diego 20, Clairemont 15--Quarterback Alex Hayslett was 17 of 27 for 187 yards and two touchdowns and rushed four times for 48 yards and a touchdown to lead host San Diego. San Diego scored the game-winner with 2:35 remaining. Clairemont’s final drive stalled at the 2-yard line on the last play of the game.

Madison 20, San Clemente 10--James Cole scored on a 60-yard interception return and a 32-yard pass to lead Madison over San Clemente. Madison (1-1) won its first game since 1987 by rallying from a 10-7 halftime deficit at San Clemente (0-2).

Brea-Olinda 33, Hilltop 3--Senior quarterback Chad Marlow threw four touchdown passes to lead Brea-Olinda at home. Derek Petty kicked a 35-yard first-quarter field goal for Hilltop (0-2).

Imperial 15, Calexico 0--Richey Bonillas kicked a 32 yard field goal and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Joe Miller to lead Imperial (2-0) at home. Calexico (0-2) was shutout, 48-0, by Grossmont last week.
