Contract for Hughes: Hughes Aircraft Co. has won a $53-million contract to design and build a computerized combat simulation system for the U.S. Army Strategic Defense Command. The computerized “test bed” will allow the Army to simulate air defense and tactical missile defense systems and how they would respond to enemy attacks, Hughes said. Hughes’ Ground Systems Group, based in Fullerton, will manage the project from its offices in Huntsville, Ala.
