Wojtkiewicz, Ucker Spark Estancia

Quarterback Danny Ucker scored once and threw two touchdown passes and Josh Wojtkiewicz rushed for 105 yards to lead Estancia High School to a 26-0 victory over Los Amigos at Newport Harbor High Friday night.

Estancia’s defense held Los Amigos (1-3) to one first down, which came with five minutes left in the game.

“I have to give praise to our defensive line,” Estancia Coach John Liebengood said. “But, as for our offense, we got up 19 and we just quit playing football.”

Ucker scored the first touchdown six minutes into the game from one yard out. Minutes later, Jeff Desandro picked off a Los Amigos pass and ran 15 yards to put the winners in front, 12-0.

Later in the same period, Ucker passed 14 yards to Dan Petrone to bring the score to 18-0.

“When you’re going good, you just figure you’re going to win,” Wojtkiewicz said, explaining his teammates relaxing after grabbing the big, early lead.
