A 14-year-old Chatsworth High School student escaped from five fellow students who kidnaped and tried to rape her, Los Angeles police said Saturday.

The girl was not injured during the abduction, which occurred about 2 p.m. Friday, said Connie Troutt, a civilian employee of the Police Department.

The girl was walking on campus when the five boys, all gang members, grabbed her, forced her into a car and took her about a mile away to a home on Glade Avenue where one of them lived, Troutt said. The boys then threatened the girl and repeatedly tried to rape her, Troutt said.

The girl managed to flee when one of the five youths held off the rest of the abductors and told her to run away, Troutt said. She then called her boyfriend, who drove her to the Devonshire Division police station, Troutt said.

None of the boys had been arrested Saturday, she said.
