American jockey Steve Cauthen swept to the front two furlongs from home on Michelozzo and rode the favorite to an easy victory at Ayr, Scotland, in the St. Leger, the final race of the British thoroughbred season. The 213th running of the country’s oldest racing event was scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed because of a dangerous course at Doncaster and moved north to Ayr.
