Fullerton : Residential Traffic Is Topic of Two Hearings
Residents upset over commuter traffic on their streets will have a chance today and Tuesday to discuss possible solutions with city officials.
The Fullerton Traffic Commission will have public hearings at 7 p.m. both nights to hear suggestions from residents living in two of the areas most affected by commuter traffic.
Seventeen projects have been proposed to improve traffic flow on the city’s streets. According to a recent study by an independent traffic consultant, even with those improvements, 40% of rush-hour commuter traffic would still be spilling onto residential streets.
Among the consultant’s suggestions to discourage commuters from using those residential streets are the installation of more stop signs and making some residential streets one-way.
The public hearings will give residents a chance to hear the suggestions and offer some of their own, city traffic engineer Paul Smith said.
The hearing tonight is for residents of Valley View Drive, Valencia Mesa Drive, Richman Avenue, Woods Avenue and Sunnycrest Avenue.
The one Tuesday is for residents of Lakeview Drive, Las Palmas Drive, Hermosa Drive and Puente Place.
