A car struck the back of a school bus in Santa Clarita on Wednesday, causing minor injuries to 10 junior high school students, the California Highway Patrol said.

The youths complained of minor head and neck pain, officers said. Seven were treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia and three were taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.

They were among about 90 students on their way home from Arroyo Seco Junior High School in Valencia when the accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. at Bouquet Canyon Road and Camargo Drive.

Bus driver Rene Altamirano, 27, of Canyon Country, was not injured, nor was the car’s driver, Evelyn Maxine Robinson, 52, of Saugus, officers said.

Robinson turned left onto Bouquet Canyon and apparently failed to see the bus, which was moving north on the same road, investigators said.
