French cyclist Jeannie Longo set a world record for 5 kilometers during competition in Mexico City, covering the distance in 6 minutes 14.135 seconds.
She beat her previous record, 6:14.813, which she set in 1987 at Colorado Springs, Colo.
The record was the second for Longo this week. Monday, she broke the record for 3 kilometers.
