Parker Knocks Out Byrd in Seventh Round

Edward Parker of Houston scored a seventh-round knockout of Robert Byrd of Dallas in a scheduled 10-round semifinal bout at the Forum’s $225,000 superfeatherweight tournament Wednesday night.

Referee Robert Byrd, not related to the fighter, stopped the fight at 2:52.

Parker’s record improved to 18-3-2. He will face Kenny Baysmore in the Oct. 23 final for the $100,000 championship.
