The State : 7th Victim Tied to Serial Killer

A seventh victim has been linked to a serial killer suspected of murdering prostitutes in the San Francisco Bay Area, police said. The nude body of the latest victim, Cheryl Chambers, 34, was found Sept. 20 in the town of Brisbane, about a half-mile south of Candlestick Park. Six other women also have been killed within the last eight weeks, officers said. They speculated all seven may have been victims of the same killer. The other victims were a woman found hanging from a tree near an East Oakland freeway, two women shot to death on street corners in West Oakland, one shot and killed near the Oakland Rose Garden on the Piedmont border, one beaten to death in East Oakland, and one woman beaten to death near Roberts Regional Park in the Oakland hills.
