Jamie Gill threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Travis Price with 50 seconds left as Texas Tech rallied from a 24-14 deficit in the final six minutes Saturday for a 27-24 upset of No. 19 Texas A&M.;

The final touchdown gave Tech its first lead in the game.

“What a great catch,” Gill said. “I just had to throw the ball. Travis is Mr. Sure Hands.”

“I just barely caught it,” Price said. “They weren’t set. They weren’t lined up and didn’t know our formation. I was just able to catch it.”

Texas A&M; Coach R.C. Slocum said his defense wasn’t lined up because it didn’t have enough time.

“Last play, they had a time out, and usually you have a chance to get your guys back out on the field before the official will let the other team snap the ball,” he said. “Our guys didn’t get back out there. But the loss can’t be attributed to that last play. It was a good throw and catch by that young man.”

Darren Lewis rushed for 81 yards and three touchdowns for A&M; (3-2 and 1-1 in the Southwest Conference).

The Aggies dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Southwest Conference. Tech is now 4-1 and 1-1.

The game was marred by a third-quarter brawl, which caused a four-minute delay. The fight began after Aggie linebacker Anthony Williams tackled James Gray near the Tech bench area. There were no serious punches thrown, but referees ejected Aggie player No. 36. One problem, though. The Aggies have no 36. There was no word on whom the officials intended to eject.
