El Camino College completed a three-game sweep of Orange County teams Saturday with a 38-14 victory over Golden West in front of about 500 at El Camino in a Mission Conference football game.

El Camino, the fourth-ranked team in the J.C. Grid-Wire national poll, defeated Fullerton, 31-24, last week and Orange Coast, 36-17, the previous week.

The Warriors (4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play) took advantage of two Golden West turnovers--an interception and a fumbled kickoff--in the first 10 minutes to take a 10-0 lead and were in control thereafter.

“The early turnovers were a big factor,” Golden West Coach Ray Shackleford said. “Any time you play a good team like El Camino, you can’t afford mistakes like the ones we made early.”

El Camino quarterback Franks Dolce was 22 of 28 for 300 yards and four touchdowns. He had scoring passes of 29 and 25 yards to David Blakes.

Golden West (2-2, 2-1) scored in the second quarter on a 15-yard pass from quarterback Rip Flippo to Patrick Reilley to cut the lead to 17-7.
