New Ventura Freeway Lanes to Open in Woodland Hills

The new fourth lane eastbound on the Ventura Freeway in Woodland Hills will be restriped tonight and opened to traffic at 6 a.m. Thursday, state Department of Transportation officials announced.

The new fourth lane westbound will be opened to traffic early Saturday morning, said Jim McAllister, resident engineer of the $22-million widening project.

Also, a temporary local bypass route, aimed at encouraging motorists bound for Warner Center to leave the freeway in Calabasas, will be closed at 10 tonight as no longer needed because of the extra traffic capacity of the renovated freeway.

McAllister said the westbound off-ramp at Parkway Calabasas and the eastbound off-ramp at Valley Circle Drive will remain closed until Oct. 21.
