Parks, Snow Advance in Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Irvine
Brad Parks of San Clemente defeated Steven Bitterauf of West Germany, 6-0, 6-1, Wednesday to advance to the fourth round of U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
Randy Snow of Birmingham, Ala., the defending champion and top-seeded singles player, also advanced by defeating David Kiley of Pomona, 7-5, 6-1.
Parks advanced to the fifth round in mixed doubles with Chantel Vandierendonck of Holland by defeating Pierre Fusade of France and Regina Isecke of West Germany, 6-1, 6-3.
In women’s singles, Vandierendonck defeated Judy Hale of Tustin, 6-0, 6-1, and Ellen De Lange of Holland defeated Jan Sherman of Santa Ana, 6-0, 6-0, to advance to today’s third round.
