After Steve Yzerman’s power-play goal 6:18 into the second period trimmed Winnipeg’s lead to 3-1, the Red Wings scored twice in 12 seconds midway through the period to tie the score.

Gallant, who begins a five-game suspension Oct. 19 for a stick-winging infraction, deflected Zombo’s shot past Jet netminder Tom Draper to cut the lead to 3-2.

After the ensuing faceoff, Zombo stole the puck from Winnipeg’s Randy Cunneyworth along the boards, skated to the faceoff circle and beat Draper with a wrist shot to the far side.

Tony McKegney stuffed a wraparound shot past Draper with 2:39 remaining in the period to put the Red Wings ahead to stay.

Philadelphia 4, Quebec 2--Rick Tocchet scored a rare power-play goal for the Flyers as they beat the Nordiques at Philadelphia for their first win of the season.
