ON THE SIDELINES : Valenzuela Pressed on Absence

Stewards of the California Racing Board want jockey Pat Valenzuela, who won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness aboard Sunday Silence, to explain his sudden absence from the track.
The 27-year-old jockey missed all riding assignments at Santa Anita on Saturday and Sunday after calling in sick both days.
Steward Pete Pedersen said Valenzuela may accept no riding assignments until he meets with the stewards.
